The Fahadh Faasil starrer joji is now streaming on the amazon prime
Dileesh Pothan nails it once again with Joji, which is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video, his third directorial venture after the much appreciated Maheshinte Prathikaram and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
The story is mainly focused on the happenings within a wealthy house in a high-range village. Joji (Fahadh Faasil) is considered a loser by virtually everyone. Not just him, his elder brothers Jomon (Baburaj) and Jaison (Joji Mundakkayam), are all scared of their dad, Kuttappan (P N Sunny). While Jomon is a divorcee, Jaison is married to Bincy (Unnimaya Prasad).
It is evident that the family is eyeing the share of the wealth that is waiting for them, whenever Kuttappan decides so. Or when he dies. The family’s reaction when Kuttappan suffers a stroke reveals their true colors.
Based on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Shyam Pushkaran has written a terrific script that is intense and gripping. The story tells what all greed can make a person do. The characters here are real people, like any of us. And that perhaps keeps the viewer glued on to the screen here, in a fascinating way.
Shyju Khalid’s visuals and Justin Varghese’s music helps in setting the mood in a big way.
Every performer in the movie gets into the roles that they play so naturally here. Baburaj performs brilliantly as Jomon, while Unnimaya Prasad is subtle as Bincy. From Alex Alister, as Jomon’s son Popy, Basil Joseph, who plays the priest to Joji Mundakkayam and P N Sunny, the actors are all in fine form.
But then, as most of his movies are, this one too belongs to the genius actor called Fahadh Faasil. He is spot on and it is a delight to see him conveying the emotions of the character that he is playing.
Joji is the kind of movie that shakes you up and refuses to leave you long after the end titles start rolling. It is affecting and makes you feel how easy it is for a human to give in to greed and then, face the consequences. This one is a MUST WATCH!
