With Twisted Climax
The posters and trailer of debutant director Desingh Periyasamy's Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal suggested that the film is a romantic comedy but it is the con angle that adds fun quotient and what's the best part about the film is it is unapologetic feel right from the word go.
Two sophisticated youngsters (Dulquer and Rakshan) earn huge money under the mask of computer application developers and animation experts but in reality, they are techie frauds who loot money using the modern technologies in fields like online shopping.
Life goes well for them until they meet two good-looking girls (Ritu Varma and Niranjana). Both the young boys are smitten by the honest life-style of the girls and decide to quit from their tech crimes! All the four with big dreams go to Goa to start a fresh life and business with all the money they earned so far.
Desingh Periyasamy has delivered an enjoyable romantic entertainer with enough brainy moments that keeps you hooked till the end. Though the film is lengthy compared to the current 120 minutes trend, it manages to keep us engaged.
Periyasamy's dialogues are crisp and make sense, he also smartly throws unexpected twists in the intermission, climax and wherever possible in the second half. On the downside, there are a few dull moments in the second half but the climax makes it up.
Dulquer is convincing in his role as the care-free youngster who prefers to use brain over brawn. Newcomer Rakshan is a great find, as he looks good on screen, tickles our funny bones with one-liners. Ritu Varma has two completely contrasting looks in the film and she pulls it off in style. Niranjana is adequate while Gautham Menon steals the show with his stylish screen presence, his closure shot will be a scream in theaters.
Technically KM Baskaran's cinematography is excellent with vivid lighting suiting the mood of the film, the aerial shots are quite impressive and he has covered a wide range of locations with his fast-paced shots. Masala Coffee's songs are enjoyable while Harshavarthan Rameshwar's background score is pulsating.
Overall, Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal is an enjoyable ride with neat packaging and unexpected twists and turns.
